P. Nallini is first Malaysian Indian woman on nation's highest court

  Datuk P. Nalini The 59-year-old was one of the four new judges elevated to the Federal Court from the Court of Appeal in a swearing-in ceremony here at the Palace of Justice on Monday (Nov 26). B orn on Aug 23, 1959, in Penang, Justice Nallini holds a bachelor's degree in Science from the University of London and a law diploma from Westminster University. Her legal career started in 1984 when she was admitted to the English Bar as a solicitor by the Middle Temple of the United Kingdom. She became a Court of Appeal judge on Sept 12, 2014. Nallini has co-authored a book titled "The Law of Dismissal", which was published by CCH Publications. An advocate and solicitor of 20 years standing, Nallini has had wide–ranging litigation experience and in recent years, Nallini’s practice was focused on complex trials in securities, tort, contract, medico–legal and probate.   Subashan Vadibeler   Subashan Vadibeler, a Malaysian student from Ipoh, recently made our country extremely proud of his amazing achievement.  The 24-year-old medical student at University Malaya (UM), was recently awarded the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship.  This scholarship is not just any other scholarship as it is one of the oldest and most prestigious international scholarships till today. The Rhodes Scholarship gives selected young people around the world the chance of a lifetime to study at the University of Oxford.   Datuk Sasikala Devi Subramaniam The lady hero well known for her bold and brave action for leading the police raid team on former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s home over the 1MDB inquiry has now been  promoted to Deputy Police Commissioner (DCP)  on 19th November 2020.  Previously, she served as Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) of Police while holding other posts such as Bukit Aman CCID deputy director. She was the first senior female officer appointed as Deputy Director of the Commercial Crime Department at Bukit Aman, and currently occupies the rank of Chief Assistant Director of Criminal Investigation and Finance at the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department.

Dr. Dharminy who hails from klang, has been acknowledged by south Australia's chief public health officer Dr. Nicola Spurrier for discovering coronavirus symptoms in an elderly women. The doctor graduated from medical school in 2006 and previously worked in hospitals in penang and Singapore before moving to Adelaide last year. The recipient will pursue human, social & political sciences at the University of Cambridge, UK. To date only four Malaysian student have received the scholarship.

 Ambiga Sreenevasan is a Malaysian lawyer known for her pursuit of judicial reform, religious tolerance, and women’s equality. In 2007, Sreenevasan was elected president of the Malaysian Bar Council. In this role, she has fought an uphill battle for gender equality and is also an advocate of freedom of religion. Sreenevasan received the 2009 U.S. Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award. She chaired the Bersih 2.0 rally, a civic movement devoted to free and fair elections in Malaysia that organized a rally of 20,000 people in Kuala Lumpur in July 2011. Born as the middle child among five siblings, his two elder brothers and two younger sisters are also medical doctors by profession. That feat in itself has made this family of humble beginnings from Dublin Estate (now known as Ladang Sungai Dingin), near Kulim in Kedah, all the more famous. To become a cardiothoracic surgeon takes years of study and long hours of training. In fact, it took Dr Sothee some 15 years after graduating as a doctor from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2002 to become a full-fledged cardiothoracic surgeon in 2017. He spent four years in Universiti Malaya doing his Masters in General Surgery, during which time he also completed Membership of Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in Ireland.
